Body language needs no words. It is what women have used for centuries to catch the attention of the potential Mr. Right and shoo away Mr. Wrong. Outlined here are the basic body language and what they mean.
Keeping the Eye on the Prize
Pocket Watches For Men
A sidelong glimpse or a straight eye contact will get you started establishing a connection with your target. The more contact, the better. When the man meets your glance, instantly put down your gaze and smile slightly to yourself bringing the message across that you were embarrassed to be caught watching him, which is a confident indication of interest. If you are bold enough, it is best to hold his stare and give him a smile. On the other hand, if a man that does not interest you is staring at you, look the other direction and be sure not to glance back at him. Look at the ceiling, or around the room, or anywhere else but him. If he is wise enough, he will immediately tell that you're not interested in him.
First Impressions Matter
As a general rule, always look your best. Don't leave your house dishevelled or unprepared to meet Mr. Right at any moment. If you look great, it will build up your confidence and you can make a lasting impression wherever you are - whether in the neighbourhood, at work, in the malls or someplace else where you would likely meet a potential target. When you left your front door and the gorgeous neighbour stared at you, baby, you have made your point!
The Hand Gestures
Hands and fingers deliver powerful messages. By carefully using them, you can convey your interest in someone in numerous ways. If a woman is keeping her hands clenched, it means she is open to him; when her hands are caressing something, like the glass rim, the locks of her hair and the sleeve of her blouse in a periodic (not fidgety) manner, it delivers a sensual message. A brave woman may go as far as stroking the folds of his suit or "accidentally" touching him while trying to reach for the salt. This will definitely punctuate an obvious point. On the contrary, when the hands and fingers are busy cleaning the eyeglasses or tapping the table, drumming, wagging or pointing somewhere and if the hands are balled in fists or jammed inside the pocket, all these are signals of disinterest. They are clear signs to move away.
Stand up
The posture transmits signals of interest or disinterest. When a person is open, she normally has an equally open posture. When you're in a conversation with a man and you are turning your body towards him and your feet on the floor, this means you are engrossed in him. You may also tilt your head slightly, cross and uncross your legs and thrust your upper body forward to show him your interest. Not so if you are not into him; you can cross your arms, hold a drink in front of your face, turn your body away or rest your feet on your toes to get your message across.
Some Extra Tips:
You have probably laid out your plans of attack by now. You know when to get serious or when to raise a white flag. I have a few additional tips to enhance your understanding of the body language.
• Things are going well when you start to "mirror" each other's gestures and body language. If he shows as much interest in you as you do him, you're on your way.
• Avoid teasing him by giving more than you decide to follow through. It may end to ugly, unfavourable circumstances.
• Do not chain smoke or get drunk. Never keep your eyes on your plate. Or you may lose the game of body language.
• Try once. If he doesn't respond, abort the operation right away.
• Do not appear desperate and needy by following the man around all evening. It is a turn off.
If everything else fails in the end, simply wear a shirt that reads, "Searching for Love". That is also a body language - a shout out, right?
